About radiotaiso.org
Who makes this site, how the exercises are verified, and how to reach us.
Who runs radiotaiso.org?
radiotaiso.org is an independent project by Advancing Development, built to hand Japan's morning-exercise tradition to the rest of the world — in any language, any time zone, any pace.
We are not affiliated with NHK, Japan Post, or the Japan Radio Taiso Federation, and this site is not an official Radio Taiso resource. It is a faithful, carefully-checked tribute, free to use, with no ads and no tracking.
How is the exercise content verified?
Every movement's sequence, form cues, and counts are checked against the official illustrated instruction guides published by Japan Post Insurance (Kampo Life), the long-time sponsor of the broadcast.
The animated figure was built movement by movement against those guides — down to details like which direction the elbows flex and where the arch belongs in the forward-and-backward bends. Where our stick figure simplifies a movement, the step-by-step text on each exercise page follows the official form. Historical facts on the history page are drawn from the public record of the broadcast's 1928 launch, its postwar suspension, and its 1951–52 revival.
Who translates the site?
The site is written in English and Japanese first, then translated into the other languages with AI assistance and marked as such until a native speaker has reviewed them.
Pages that haven't had native review carry a note in the footer inviting corrections. If you spot an error in your language, we genuinely want to hear about it — translation fixes are the fastest way to help this project.
Is this medical advice?
No. Radio Taiso is gentle, but this site is an exercise guide, not a medical resource. If you have a condition, an injury, or any doubt, check with a health professional before starting.
Every movement page notes common mistakes and safe adaptations (including seated versions), and the routine's own design — light, brief, rhythmic — is the safety feature that has kept it suitable for all ages since 1928.
How can I reach you?
Use the contact form below — corrections, translation fixes, and stories about your streak are all welcome.
Messages go straight to us without exposing any email address to bots or scrapers. If the site made your mornings better, you can also support it at ko-fi.com/advancing. That, and doing the routine tomorrow morning, is all the support it needs.
