Body Twists
Let your arms wrap around you like a loose coat.
Twist your torso left and right, letting relaxed arms swing and wrap around your body.
How to do it
- Stand with feet planted, knees soft, arms completely relaxed.
- Turn your torso to one side; let the arms swing and wrap around you.
- Swing back through center to the other side in a steady rhythm.
- Let your head follow the twist, eyes sweeping the horizon.
Breathing: Short natural exhales with each twist, like the rhythm of walking.
What it does
- Rotates the thoracic spine — essential mobility for reaching, driving, and looking behind you.
- The relaxed arm wrap gives a light massage-like stimulus to circulation.
Common mistakes
- Twisting from the knees or hips — the feet stay planted, the twist lives in the torso.
- Muscling the arms: they should fly from momentum alone.
Questions
Should my hips rotate too?
A little rotation is natural, but keep the feet planted and let the waist do most of the turning — that's where the mobility benefit lives.
Why relaxed arms instead of holding them up?
Loose arms turn the twist into a rhythm you can feel. When they wrap and tap your body, your tempo is right.
