Cool-Down Swings
The rhythm section returns, softer — the body's way of saying almost done.
Repeat the easy arm swings with springy knees, letting the effort drain gently away.
How to do it
- Return to the familiar pendulum arm swing from movement two.
- Keep the knee bounce shallow and loose.
- Let each swing become a little softer than the last.
- Finish standing quietly tall.
Breathing: Long, easy breaths as the heart rate settles.
What it does
- Brings the heart rate down gradually after the jumps — the routine's built-in cool-down.
- Repeating an earlier movement gives the routine its satisfying, song-like shape.
Common mistakes
- Stopping abruptly after the jumps instead of swinging down gently.
- Adding effort — this movement is deliberately easier than its first appearance.
Questions
Why does the routine repeat a movement?
It's intentional symmetry: the same swing that warmed you up now cools you down. Your body recognizes the movement and relaxes into it.
Can I skip straight to the breathing?
After the jumps, your heart rate deserves the ramp down. Even four soft swings make the finish feel better.
Radio Taiso is gentle, but it is still exercise. If you have a medical condition, an injury, or any doubt, check with a health professional before starting.
